Meet Abraham Aiyash

I am running to be your State Representative here in District 4 because we need collaborative and progressive leadership in Lansing. We can bring back a politics of purpose if we’re willing to engage ordinary citizens in our democracy. I hope you’ll join us.

I was born and raised in Michigan. My parents emigrated from Yemen and built a middle class family in this district and taught us the value of hard work, giving back, and commitment to service.

I’m a proud product of Hamtramck Public Schools. I graduated from MSU and I’ve committed my life to serve our district. My days as a community organizer started with President Obama’s historic campaign. I have actively organized my community to stand up to corporate polluters. I made history as the youngest member of a city commission in Hamtramck. I co-founded a non-profit that promotes literacy in poor and working class communities in Detroit and Flint. And I started a mentoring program for refugee children. My life’s work has been committed to helping people find their own agency.

Issues

Transparent, Accountable Government

Abraham will fight for honest, accountable, and transparent government. He will not accept corporate PAC money & will always keep you informed about what is going on in Lansing. A government for the people, by the people. Abe is the only person who is committed to opening an office in the district- because you shouldn’t have to go to Lansing to reach your elected officials. Abe is the only candidate in this race to post a list of our donors right on our website, which you can see at this link.

Our Kids, Our Seniors, & Our State

Our kids deserve equitable access to a quality public education. Our teachers deserve better pay. And yes we have to fix the damn potholes. Abe will champion a $15 minimum wage, programs to benefit our seniors & car insurance reform. We need to guarantee access to affordable, clean water for all. Abe will fight for criminal justice reform and is proud to stand up for serious gun reform.

Good roads. Good schools. Good jobs. Great Michigan.

Health & Environment

Abe supports Medicare for All. He will make sure we invest in mental health services, women’s health services & fight the opioid epidemic. Abe will also advocate for investments in green energy & sustainable manufacturing. We have to protect our environment from greedy companies and corporate polluters.
